About GCP Medical

  • GCP research is a facility where Phase 1 trials take place. A Phase 1 is an initial introduction of an investigational new drug into humans. Here, healthy study participants are admitted for up to several days to this facility so that a new medication can be tested for the first time in humans. Phase 1 clinical trials are essential to the development of all medication that is used in society today. All new medications must pass through a Phase 1 study successfully before going on to further study in Phase 2 and Phase 3 trials.
  • Safety of the study participants is of utmost priority at every step of the way. All volunteers that participate have to go through a consenting process and have to sign a consent form making sure that they are fully aware of all procedures and risks. All volunteers are free to withdraw from the study at anytime.
  • Our mission is to provide the best quality and most efficient Phase 1 services to our clients. This is done by testing medications for tolerability and safety as well as effectively determining the pharmacodynamics (what effect does the new medication have in the body), and pharmacokinetics (how the body metabolizes or eliminates the new medication).
  • Our location is situated in the heart of downtown Montreal. We are centrally located between three major universities, McGill University, Concordia University, and UQAM, and easily accessible by bus and metro routes. This allows easy access for our participants, making it possible for everyone to take part in our research.
